What are powder paints and why work with them?

Powder paints are one of the purest ways to work with pigment. Unlike ready-made paints, you receive the pigment in dry form and decide its concentration, its use and its final intensity yourself.

That control is one of the greatest advantages of powder paints.

Pigment as the basis of colour

Every colour begins with pigment. It determines the shade, intensity, transparency, opacity and other properties. In powder form the pigment is right in front of you, without a ready-made binder and without a preset concentration.

This lets you experiment with different amounts of pigment and create your own colour mixtures.

More from a single colour

The same pigment can look completely different depending on how you use it. At high concentration it can form a bold, saturated layer. Diluted, it produces a softer, more transparent effect.

Powder paints are therefore well suited to layering, glazing, mixing shades and experimental work.
